BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to increase their salaries, along with the salary of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

Under the plan, Mayor Wu's salary would increase from $207,000 to $250,000 annually.

The salary for city councilors would rise from $103,500 to $125,000 a year.

These pay increases would be greater than the ones Mayor Wu proposed during the summer, which would have seen the mayoral salary jump to $230,000 and the councilor salary to $115,000. Wu's proposed raises would have gone into effect as written had the City Council not voted Wednesday.

Mayor Wu will need to sign the council's proposal for final approval.

The salary hikes would go into effect after the next election cycle.
