BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson was back at work Monday despite facing calls to resign over FBI corruption charges.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges last week after she was arrested at her Dorchester home.

She's facing five counts of federal wire fraud charges and one count of aiding and abetting theft concerning programs receiving federal funds.

Court documents say the charges are connected to a kickback scheme involving a member of her staff who is also a family member.

On Monday morning, Fernandes Anderson gaveled the start of a virtual city council meeting on historic racial harms and upholding civil rights for her District 7 in Boston.

Mayor Michelle Wu is among other elected officials calling for Fernandes Anderson's resignation.

But so far, it appears she's not resigning and will continue her work on the city council as she fights federal corruption charges.
