BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A once beloved music venue in Allston-Brighton is one step closer to reopening its doors.

The Boston Planning and Development Agency approved a plan to resurrect the Great Scott music venue during Thursday's board meeting.

The legendary venue, located at the corner of Cambridge Street and Harvard Avenue, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Great Scott hosted acts like Clairo, Pheobe Bridgers and Charli XCX before they became mainstream.

The plan is to reconstruct the Great Scott music venue along with O’Brien’s Pub next door. The new Great Scott venue will have a 300-person capacity and the O’Brien’s pub will hold 75.

The 97,300 square feet site will also include 139 residential units on the upper floors. The estimated redevelopment costs is around 50 million dollars.
