BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston College's championship hopes came to a crushing end in the Frozen Four finals on Saturday.
The Eagles took the ice at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota as the number one seed with a 15-game winning streak, but it was the University of Denver Pioneers who left victorious 2-0.
It was the first time Boston College was shutout all season.

After a scoreless first period, Denver forward Jared Wright got his team on the board during the second period. Later that same period, Denver jumped ahead with a 2-0 lead thanks to a goal from forward Rieger Lorenz.
Boston College had 35 shots on goal throughout the game, each one turned away by Denver goalie Matt Davis. Davis was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
Denver's win on Saturday was the team's record breaking 10th national championship.
The Eagles finished their season 34-7-1, which is tied for the most wins in the school's history.
