BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Boston Duck Tours boat helped rescue a small child and a father from the Charles River Monday morning.

State Police said that the incident occurred near the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge and that the child, believed to be under the age of 2, “squeezed through” a railing next to the river. The child then went into the water.

The child’s father immediately jumped into the river. A Boston Duck Tours boat happened to be going by, and helped rescue the two from the water and dropped them off at a nearby dock.

The child was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation.
