BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The morning after a Boston EMS worker was stabbed, dozens of her fellow first responders came out to show their support.
The EMT personnel and recruits were outside Boston Municipal Court, where the suspect in the stabbing, 31-year-old Julie Tejeda, appeared Thursday. Tejeda is charged with assault with intent to murder.
So many turned up—around 100, roughly one third of Boston's EMTs—that several dozen had to wait outside. They filed into the building one by one.
Police said Tejeda was being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital from East Boston in the back of an ambulance, when she became unruly, stabbed the EMT, and sprayed her partner with mace.
Tejada was ordered held without bail while she undergoes a 20-day mental health evaluation.

The EMT was released from MGH Thursday afternoon, and will continue her recovery at home. She has not been identified.
