BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston sports fans are hoping to see the Celtics advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs tonight with a win against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Celts lead that series three games to one, and a win tonight lines up a second round clash with the Philadelphia 76ers who have already swept the Brooklyn Nets.
And while the Celtics players know before they look forward to round two, they have to focus first on playing well tonight against the Hawks.
But try telling that to Celtics fans. Confidence is running sky-high, not just because of how well the team is playing now, but also due to last year’s near-miss at winning the NBA championship.
This fan said the Celtics are going all the way. “I think they are the favorites to win it all,” he said. “From the experience they gained last year, they are battle tested. They know what they have to do. It’s the same group of guys inching closer every year, they got to the finals, and I think it’s time they take the final step this year.”
Another fan was looking forward to tonight’s game at the TD Garden. “Everyone is excited,” he said. “It’s crazy. If we do it tonight, the party doesn’t stop.”
