BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands of people came out for the annual Caribbean Festival on Satuday near Franklin Park.
Following four overnight shootings in Dorchester, police presence was increased for the event.
Massachusetts State Police had a helicopter circling over the festival.
WBZ NewsRadio’s Kim Tunnicliffe spoke with attendees who said they still felt safe at the festival despite the night of violence.
Wilbert Kennedy, 81, has been coming to the festival since it started.
“It’s a celebration for the community. Whether you’re black, white, Chinese, or whatever, you’re welcome here. And we’re all one family,” Kennedy said.
