BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Britain's Prince William and Princess Catherine are set to arrive in Boston on Wednesday, and the city is rolling out the red carpet. The royal couple is set to land at Logan Airport Wednesday afternoon, kicking off three days of appearances ahead of the Earthshot Prize ceremony.

The prince and princess are flying commercial to Logan. From there, they'll head to a 4:30 PM welcoming ceremony at City Hall Plaza, joined by Mayor Michelle Wu. The event is public, and anyone can attend. The royal couple will announce the winners of the Earthshot Prize from the MGM Music Hall on Friday.

WBZ's Jim MacKay talked to excited travelers at Logan on Wednesday.

"It's nice to think that they think enough of us to come and visit," said Catherine, a traveler at Terminal E who actually hails from Wales.

Both AAA and the City of Boston are warning about serious traffic impacts as the royals move about the city. There will be no parking or stopping on Cambridge Street from Court Street to New Sudbury on Wednesday.

AAA Northeast is telling drivers to consider to consider taking the T over the next few days. To make traffic matters worse, President Biden will be in town on Friday and could attend the Earthshot Prize ceremony.
