Boston Is One Of The Most Charitable Cities In The U.S.

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The numbers are in: Boston is one of the most generous cities in the country, according to a survey published by Phlebotomy Training.

The study defined "generous" could mean many different things, such as donating time and energy or providing skills to help others.

The top three most charitable states are Louisiana in third, Utah in second, and Idaho in first place. Unfortunately, Massachusetts came out at 42 out of 50 most generous state.

Residents in Idaho are most likely to volunteer their time and talent at least once a month.  

Taking a closer look into each city, Boston made it on the top 10 more generous cities at number 10.

The number one most generous city is New Orleans, where residents are most likely to donate money. New York City and Washington D.C. took second and third place, respectively. Residents in New York will most likely help a stranger more often, residents in D.C. attend the most charity events.

Some of the most popular generous skillsets are cleaning, cooking, and organizing.
