Boston Man Accused Of Killing His Mother 'Completely Psychotic' Lawyer Says

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 22-year-old man charged with killing his own mother inside a Dorchester home last week is "completely psychotic," according to his lawyer.

"He's delusional," attorney Keith Hampern said of Zackery Grandy during his arraignment. "He's completely out of touch with reality."

Halpern said he met with Grandy on Friday, hours after Grandy had allegedly killed his mother, and hours before he was set to be arraigned on murder charges.

Halpern entered a not guilty plea on Grandy's behalf, but he declined to discuss the circumstances of the killing.

After Halpern's comments about his client's mental state, Grandy's arraignment was delayed. He has been ordered to undergo an evaluation at a state psychiatric facility.

According to WBZ-TV, this was not Grandy's first run in with the law.

Officers responded to a call on Thursday at around 2:20 p.m. in the Dorchester neighborhood, where they found the victim dead inside a home.

The woman's identity and manner of death has not been released.
