Mayor Walsh's Message To Boston Marathon Runners, 2013 Survivors

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Marty Walsh checked in with WBZ NewsRadio's Deb Lawler this morning with a message of congratulations to all those who have qualified for the 123rd Boston Marathon.

"Just take it all in," he said. "There's gonna be a lot of people on the marathon route cheering you on, and obviously, prepare as you were told but enjoy it."

This race also marks the first time the marathon has fallen on One Boston Day. On this sixth anniversary of the 2013 marathon bombings, Walsh also had a message to survivors.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with them," Walsh said. "They're incredible human beings, incredible people, have overcome unbelievable obstacles and a lot of loss. We just want to say to them how much we support them, how much we love them, and how proud we are of them."
