BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Marathon will go on this year, but a full return to normal won't happen until 2022. The Boston Athletic Association announced its qualifying and registration dates for the 2022 Boston Marathon on Tuesday, which will be held on Patriots' Day 2022.
This year's Marathon will be held on October 11.
For the 2022 race, registration will be held between November 8 and November 12, and the qualifying window for the race is between September 1, 2019 and 5:00 PM on November 12, 2021.
The 2022 marathon, which is the 126th Boston Marathon, will be the first race held on the traditional Patriots' Day date since 2019.
Athletic Association CEO Tom Grilk said the organization's return to Patriots' Day next year will make it "certainly be one of the most highly anticipated races in Boston Marathon history."
