BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Boston Mayor Kim Janey is set to give her farewell address Wednesday afternoon.
Janey will give her address at 4:00 p.m. from Hibernian Hall in Roxbury. The event will also feature some musical performances.
Janey was the first woman and first Black person to serve as mayor of Boston after she took over for former mayor, Marty Walsh, when he left to be U.S. Secretary of Labor.

After losing her re-election bid, Janey’s term ends next week when mayor-elect Michelle Wu will take over at City Hall. Wu will be sworn into her position with a ceremony next Tuesday.
Janey also endorsed Wu after Janey did not reach the primary election. The two say they have been speaking regularly as their teams prepare for the transition.
