Boston Outdoor Dining To Reopen April 1

BOSTON (WBZ News Radio) – Mayor Marty Walsh says the outdoor dining season will start in Boston on April 1, or when weather permits.

Walsh made the announcement during a COVID-19 update. He said the outdoor dining program brought vitality back to the city’s streets.

“We know what a struggle it’s been for them this past year. Many people have put their life savings into their restaurants…” Walsh said. “Outdoor dining was one of the brightest spots of this experience here in the city of Boston,” he said.

The city is waiving fees to apply for the program, and there’s an online application process. The city will again close certain streets and block off parking in certain places to open up outdoor dining spots.
