BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, held the 22nd annual lighting of the trellis Monday evening.
Mayor Michelle Wu flipped the switch that lit up the 260 foot tunnel with 50,000 blue lights.
Steve Kruszkowski of Boston Parks and Rec was overjoyed about the event.
“Oh, we love the Columbus Park trellis lighting,” said Steve. “It's one of the kickoffs for the Boston Parks Department tree lightings.”
The President of the FOCCP Joanne Hayes-Rines was similarly excited by the lighting.
“It’s magical,” said Joanne. “It has been called one of the most romantic if not the most romantic places in the City of Boston.”
These sentiments were shared by the dozens of people who came out to the lighting to experience this kickoff of the holiday season.
