BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — What started as a 911 call ended with a man getting a special birthday celebration from the Boston Police.

Police told WBZ NewsRadio that a 911 call came in shortly after midnight Wednesday night. The caller didn't have an emergency, however. He said he "wanted someone to say happy birthday to him."

The 911 dispatcher sent two officers to do a well-being check on the man from East Boston, and on the way to him, they bought a muffin and candles to give the caller a birthday treat.

When they arrived at his residence, they decorated the muffin with the candles and lit them up, singing "Happy Birthday" to the man.

"We're happy that you're 25. That's a big number," said one of the police officers.

Bodycam footage showed the caller celebrating with the officers after being sung to, saying "You guys are awesome!"

"We wish you the best birthday, alright?" added one of the officers.
