BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Mass General employee is charged with illegal gun possession after he tried to bring a high-powered rifle to the hospital Wednesday night, Boston police said.
Police said the unnamed man called them and said he heard God tell him to bring his rifle out and that police were trying to kill him.
A Mass General spokesperson told WBZ NewsRadio that the man arrived at MGH but did not go inside. A hospital security officer outside the building told the man to put what he was carrying down on the ground, which turned out to be the rifle wrapped in a shower curtain, police said.
The suspect was taken into the emergency room as police secured the gun. Officials said the man is now receiving psychiatric care.
MGH said in a statement that no patients were injured and the hospital was open and operating normally.
