BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police are releasing surveillance photos of the suspect in a break-in last month. The break-in happened at 38 Fleet Street in the North End on February 19. Police say four purses were stolen and a handful of other personal effects were taken from the building.

Now, they've released surveillance footage of the suspect. Police say he's a black male with a beard and short dreadlocks. Police say he was seen leaving the area wearing a stolen, beige Patagonia jacket. He was wearing red sneakers when he entered the residence.

WBZ's Jim MacKay spoke to residents in the nearby area, who said the theft doesn't surprise them, as car break-ins have been an issue there.

"A number of times within the last few months...We're on alert now," Patti said. She said her Corgi is her security system.

Another resident, Lisa, said her own car was broken into around the holidays, and the thief made off with hallmark cards — including a condolence card for her mother.

Police are asking anyone in the neighborhood to come forward with more information.
