BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The New York Times names a Irish pub in Dorchester as one of the best restaurants of the year.
McGonagle’s Pub & Restaurant located at 367 Neponset Ave. made the top 50 list of the current best restaurants in the country.
The pub & restaurant opened back in December and is bringing a modern Irish pub to locals.
“We want to showcase Ireland as it is in 2025, not in 1976,” said Chef Aidan McGee.
McGee pointed to consistency being the main key for the pub and its services.
“The simple things done right is the most important, and that’s what we do down to getting the fish and chips right, getting the Guinness right, getting the cocktails right,” he said.
McGonagle’s is owned by the same owners of The Dubliner, which opened back in 2022 and is located in Center Plaza in Boston.
On McGonagle’s Instagram page the pub celebrated the news and pointed out that this is the first time an Irish pub has made a New York Times best restaurants list.
“Here’s to many more pints, plates and good times,” they wrote.
