BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Public Library is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month with a book list featuring titles from and about the Hispanic community.
The list, Vida Latina, features 123 titles focused on the diversity, culture and experiences of the Latino community. Featuring books written by either Hispanic authors or about Hispanic history, the list is compiled by librarians from several branches across the city.

Comprised of authors such as Lucky Diaz, Raúl the Third, Isabel Allende and Mariana Diaz, each listing includes a brief synopsis, classification information and a picture of the cover of the book. Along with the list, the library will host author talks, lectures, film screenings, workshops and more. While people can review a digital copy of the list now, participants can pick up physical copies of the book list from any Boston Public Library location starting Sept 15.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and honors the contributions of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors originate from Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain and Central and South America. The listing comes as cities around the Massachusetts are reevaluating their Hispanic Heritage Month events. Mayor Carlo DeMaria of Everett recently canceled the annual Fiesta Del Rio citing the ongoing ICE raids.
