Boston Realtors Must Stop Open Houses

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is asking all realtors in the city to stop showing open houses to potential buyers due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

At a press conference on Sunday, Mayor Walsh said too many people in the city are ignoring social distancing guidelines amid the pandemic, by taking part in team sports, sitting in groups outside, and showing open houses.

"Yesterday I got several calls there were open houses in the city of Boston," said Mayor Walsh. "Realtors were showing property. We ask all realtors to stop doing open houses."

While relators must stop all open houses, Walsh said there will be less of a restriction for those leasing apartments.

"If you're going to show somebody an apartment, show them by appointment only," said Walsh. "Don't have signs in front."
