BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Red Sox are in Oakland tonight to start a four-game set after losing three of four in Seattle and allowing 34 runs. Boston's starters posted an ERA over 13 the worst through four games in a decade.

But, manager Alex Cora won't second-guess a light spring training workload for starting pitchers.

"Check what happened last year, we did the same thing," Cora said. "When I got here, I remember when people said that Cruz was throwing 100 in the first game of 2017. It's easy to second-guess now what we did ... it's a program, you have to be disciplined, that's the way I see it."

Mitch Moreland's confident in the starters.

"I'll run those guys out there every time," he said. "Our starters are some of the best in the league. Just because it didn't go their way for a couple games doesn't mean that that's the way the season's gonna go. These guys are gonna find their groove, and get us rolling."

David Price will get his first turn tonight. The World Series hero posted a 9.45 ERA in two spring starts.
