BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Reactions in Boston are coming in over Jimmy Kimmel’s recent suspension at ABC.

The network suspended Jimmy Kimmel and his late-night talk show indefinitely on Wednesday after comments he made about Charlie Kirk during a monologue on his show Monday night.

In those comments he accused the right of trying to score political points off Kirk’s murder.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” said Kimmel.

These comments resulted in multiple ABC affiliates announcing that they would not be airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on their stations.

Local reactions in Boston to Kimmel’s suspension have been mixed so far. Some people disagree with the move by ABC.

“One of the best things about being an American is being able to make fun of your president’s,” said one man.

“[I’m] very discouraged and very sad,” said one woman.

“[I’m] disappointed, he’s been a part of my life since high school, since college,” said another woman.

Meantime, others agreed or understood the decision to suspend the show.

“People are allowed to find that moral or immoral depending on how they look at it,” said Tyler.

“It’s freedom of speech, not freedom from consequences,” he continued.

“Whether it’s television, radio, media or any industry, that’s morally reprehensible, they should be reprimanded,” said Brian from Chinatown.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, a major telecommunications company who owns and operates multiple local stations, called for Kimmel to issue an apology to Kirk’s family and donate to the family and Charlie’s organization Turning Point USA.

A TV special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk will be aired on Friday, Sept. 19 to fill the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” timeslot.
