BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A non-binding ballot question on Tuesday's municipal election asking if Dudley Square should be renamed "Nubian Square" was defeated.

Of the 52,970 votes cast, 54 percent of Boston residents voted against changing the name.

The suggested name change is being considered due to Thomas Dudley's ties to slave trade during the 1600s.
