BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts soccer fans are getting their first look at the special Boston logo that will be used when the city hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

The logo features the slogan "We Are Boston" written besides the 2026 World Cup logo of the trophy superimposed on top of the number "26."

City and state officials such as Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, as well as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, attended the unveiling at Big Night Live at TD Garden Thursday.

"We are ready to host this major global event," Governor Healey said. "And let’s face it, there is nothing quite like the World Cup."

"We’ve opened our doors to our neighbors across the globe for more than 400 years here in Boston, and we can’t wait to do it again in 2026 for fan fests, celebrations, and viewing parties throughout our neighborhoods," said Mayor Wu.

Boston is one of 11 locations in the United States that will host the 2026 World Cup, alongside Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle. Two Canadian cities (Toronto, Vancouver) and three Mexican cities (Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey) will also host.

"48 teams and the first one ever to be hosted across three countries—Canada, United States, and Mexico—so we’re quite excited about that," said Brian Bilello, president of Boston Soccer 2026 and the New England Revolution. "We certainly would love to get a quarterfinal match here."

"We’ll make sure Boston is going to get as many games, a minimum of six. Am I not supposed to say that?" Robert Kraft said. "I would like to bet that maybe we’ll get more."

Organizers estimate that the 2026 World Cup will bring $500 million to the Bay State economy and 450,000 people to the Boston area.
