BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Unionized Boston teachers call off a rally after reaching a tentative agreement.

Boston Public Schools (BPS) announced on Tuesday that they had reached a tentative three-year contract with the Boston Teacher Union (BTU). Mayor Wu, BPS Superintendent Mary Skipper, and Boston School Committee Chairperson Jeri Robinson shared the news through a joint statement to the BPS community.

“We have engaged in a robust and productive process, and we look forward to our continued work with BPS educators and staff as BTU members review the agreement and prepare for their ratification vote,” said the officials in the statement.

Had the two sides not reached the tentative agreement, the BTU was prepared to rally outside the MGM Music Hall at Fenway Wednesday night, where Mayor Wu will deliver her State of the City address. The rally has since been called off.

Officials have yet to release the specifics of the agreement but said every educator will get a raise, “with a particular focus on [their] lowest paid workers.”
