BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sunny skies, warm temperatures, and the crack of the bat at Fenway Park are surefire signs that spring has sprung in Boston, but it can hard to enjoy when seasonal allergies keep getting in the way.
Yes, allergy season is back and hitting sufferers with sneezing, congested and runny noses, and itchy and watery eyes. The common culprits this time of year are different types of tree pollen, such as oak, birch, walnut, cedar, elm, and maple.

So how do Bostonians fight back against such an annoying enemy?
"Wash your face at night," said Rich and his wife Karen. "Zyrtec works, Claritin, and neti pot."
Kylie's go-to is eye drops, and if things get crazy, she will reach for some generic allergy meds.
"I moved from Philly, and I feel like there’s a lot more nature here, so it’s actually worse than normal," Kylie told WBZ NewsRadio.
Jay uses a regimen of pills and nasal sprays, but has found drops under the tongue work well.
"Honestly, it’s fantastic, they’re sublingual drops," Jay said. "They’re customized to you, you do a super quick blood test. I’ve probably told about ten people about them in the past month."
Unfortunately, some people cannot seem to shore up a defense no matter what they do.
"I don’t think anything helps me anymore, but I notice I have to change my medicine every year," said Isaiah.
On trying the method of eating local honey to build up a pollen tolerance, Isaiah recalled, "I tried it for years, didn’t work. I think if anything, I got worse."
Elizabeth's husband also tried all sorts of medications that did not help.
"You’re supposed to take one a day and the doctor said, like, up to four, so there he is doing it," said Elizabeth. "He had to pull over at the side of the road at one point because his eyes were going so badly."
"Part of it is you just have to suck it up and make it through, it means summer’s coming," Karen said.
