Boston Woman Charged With Leaving Baby In A Hot Truck

MILTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — According to Massachusetts State Police, a woman from Boston is being charged with reckless child endangerment after a Trooper found her 1-year-old baby alone in a truck with the heat on high.

State Police said a Trooper saw the truck with its engine running, parked illegally in a fire lane near Houghton's Pond in Milton at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The Trooper reported discovering the child alone inside, and he felt “an excessive amount of heat, due to the heater set on high, inside the driver’s side compartment,” in the truck.

Police said the child had been left alone in the truck for about 25 minutes, while the 24-year-old mother set up the baby's birthday party.

According to the Patriot Ledger, the baby, who began crying when found by the officer, was taken to Boston Children's Hospital for observation.

The woman, whose name is being withheld until she appears in court, is expected to appear in Quincy District Court to face a reckless endangerment charge.
