Bostonians React To A Complaint Over Christmas Tree Put Up Before Halloween

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The North End is already getting into the “Christmas spirit” and one resident is not happy about it.

The resident left a scathing complaint on the city’s 311 service about a Christmas tree on display in the North End. The complaint was sent on Oct. 29 and promptly closed on Oct. 30.

“Are you kidding me?! There is no reason to have a Christmas tree up before Halloween. Great way to perpetuate the monopolization and commercialization of a holiday that is not celebrated by everyone. You could have at least waited for daylight savings time to end,” said the complaint.

Many Boston residents agreed with the sentiment but were much more understanding than the aforementioned complaint.

“Shipping, you know, is challenging. If you have to put it up before, logistically speaking, I think that’s okay as long as it’s not decorated,” said one resident.

“I’m not personally offended. However, I do think it should come up after Halloween,” said another resident.

Other residents saw the complaint as more of a problem than the tree itself.

“I think it’s ridiculous, like what are you doing? You’ve got [to find] a better use of your time,” said one resident.

“I would like to 311 a complaint of an abuse of 311,” said another resident.
