BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With the 2025-2026 NFL season weeks away, fantasy football drafts are also underway. That means that these very leagues are going through with the punishments for last year’s results.
The punishments are generally given to those who place last in their fantasy leagues, and these tasks can range from ridiculous to wildly cruel.
A common punishment involves the loser staying in a diner for 24 hours straight, with eating pancakes being the only way to lower the time quicker.
When talking to Bostonians, another common punishment involves doing puzzles.
“He actually did it the other day; he had to sit in his room and isolate for 24 straight hours and do a 10,000-piece puzzle,” one Boston resident said. “He had to livestream it on Twitch, so people we’re tuning in.”
“I had one recently that he had to complete a 1,000-piece puzzle in the dark,” another individual said. “That was a pretty tough one for him.”

While Carl’s fantasy league doesn’t have punishments, he said that he’s been trying to convince his league-mates to give it a try and even has some ideas of his own.
“Having to do standup comedy for a few minutes, wearing a clown outfit to a parade, something like that,” Carl said.
Despite being the loser of his league last year, Jeremy also said he wants his league-mates to consider adding punishments.
“I’m the one who suggested it, and they were like ‘We’re too lazy to do that,’ but I’m like, that would be so much more fun,” Jeremy said. “SATs, ACTs or taking some type of test. Anything where it brings back memories of being in high school where it’s the most embarrassing time in your life.”
Some punishments move beyond lighthearted or embarrassing, however, as Kevin recounted a punishment his brother-in-law had to go through.
“The loser had to dress up as an animal and they all went out with paintball guns and hunted him down for like 20 minutes,” Kevin said. “That’s a tough punishment for sure.”
Kevin also mentioned that his brother-in-law is no longer part of that league.
