CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer and after a slew of rained-out weekends, Bay Staters are ready to bask in the sun for the holiday.
"I'm going to sit at the lake the whole day. Sit in the sun. Escape from the city for a bit," said Casper.
Data from AAA projects that 45 million people are expected to travel for the holiday, but some locals have other plans.
"Wedding dress shopping. I'm getting married this summer. We're running out of time. So, it's a hectic Memorial Day weekend," said Victoria.
Common Memorial Day weekend activities include cooking, visiting memorials, attending parades and cookouts, but others plan on spending the day indoors relaxing.
"I'm just gonna be at home hanging out," said one Bostonian. "I'm in medical school so it's been kinda crazy. So I just want to have a little bit of a break."
