BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Breaking a pandemic in-person meeting hiatus, Simmons University hosted the 25th annual Boston International Women's Day Breakfast Tuesday morning at the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center.

The meal had a physical venue for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic but still offered online attendance. WBZ's James Rojas was there to document the event that was filled with members from Boston feminists' organizations celebrating trailblazers and addressing obstacles that women still face today. Panelist podium speeches were moderated by the Director of Public Affairs and Community Services Karen Ward.

The first African American woman to serve as President of Simmons University Lynn Perry Wooten was one of the speakers at the breakfast.

"This day also serves as a call to action— it's what I call 'leading from the head, the heart, and the hand,'" Wooten said.
