BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you have to meet up with someone in person from Facebook Marketplace, Boston Police recommends you do so under a watchful eye.
More and more people are opting to meet up at street corners and parking lots to complete online transactions in the real world, and for those wary of meeting a total stranger— BPD has a solution.
Officials have opened the doors at all police stations to provide residents a safer location to conduct their transactions.
BPD acknowledged the risks associated with doing business with strangers in unfamiliar places, so they created what they call 'Safe Exchange Zones,’ inside district stations including BPD headquarters.
Police officers are monitoring the safe zones for buyers and sellers 24 hours a day.
Officials said as online transactions continue to grow, they encourage people to play it safe and use one of the 13 safe zones across the city.
