BRAINTREE Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —   An old eye sore that was once a Motel 6 on the South Shore is finally getting demolished after efforts to try and save the building failed. The building was well-known for its crime, including a deadly police shooting back in 2017, and it was permanently closed in 2018, since then, it has been sitting here vacant.

The empty lot raised questions about what could go there next. While it has been decided that a Chik Fil A restaurant is slated to open there in 2025, some people thought that it was a missed opportunity for something more than just another restaurant.

“[They should] start building it back up and making it into something [community oriented],” said Daryl, a Braintree resident.

While the demolition was a long time coming, it did signify the end of a difficult period for the property that despite its valuable location, saw more bad days than good.
