DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Thursday, Brian Walshe of Cohasset was ordered held without bail in Norfolk County Superior Court in Dedham on multiple charges, including the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe.
The prosecution unveiled new details during the arraignment. They said in December of last year, Walshe suspected his wife of having an affair and made it a routine to check the Instagram page of one of her male friends. Norfolk Assistant District Attorney Greg Connor said that Walshe directed his mother to hire a private investigator to tail his wife while she was in Washington D.C. for work.
The defense argued that Walshe had no idea his wife was being unfaithful until the discovery process of his criminal trial — after he was arrested.
Prosecutors gave a timeline of events, saying the defendant traveled to multiple hardware stores with his eldest child's cell phone to purchase items like a hacksaw, five five-gallon buckets, 48 cloth towels, a full coverage suit, shoe guards, mop, snips, 200 disposable rags, trash bags, oil, soap, and other cleaning products. Attorneys then sifted through Walshe's searches on the internet, which included questions like how to remove the odor of decomposing bodies and how to remove bloodstains from concrete.

Defense attorney Tracy Miner acknowledged how those Google searches could be problematic. But she said her client also made other internet searches, like how to set up a charitable corporation to give away large lottery winnings — despite never winning the lottery.
Last month, a grand jury indicted Walshe on counts of murder, misleading a police investigation and obstruction of justice, and improper conveyance of a human body. Walshe's next court date is set for August 23, for a pre-trial conference.
