BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Brighton High School partnered with a life sciences developer to bring modern STEM labs to the school.

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning, the school opened five new laboratories for their students to use. Brighton High’s Head of School Andrew Bott was very excited about the new opportunities for his students to learn.

“The five labs that we have now provide us with the space to do really game-changing work with our students,” said Bott.

Yara Bonilla, a junior at Brighton High, is taking AP Biology and said the new laboratories made a big difference.

“Me and my classmates feel like we are working in a real lab, that we’re doing amazing experiments, learning better, so I’m really grateful,” said Bonilla.

Life sciences developer IQHQ paid for the design and construction of the new labs. Mayor Michelle Wu, who attended the opening ceremony, said the company made a smart investment.

“These five beautiful brand-new science labs are here because of an investment with a local company, IQHQ, and this partnership connected them to build the labs that will then empower their future workforce,” said Wu.
