Brighton's Green Briar Closing After 29 Years

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Green Briar, an Irish pub in Brighton, is closing its doors on Monday after being in business for 29 years.

The news is shocking for some patrons, who came to enjoy a final drink at the bar.

“There is no other Green Briar. Nothing quite like it,” one patron said of the pub.

According to one employee, the pub is closing because of a changing demographic. This was not surprising for patron Neil.

“Cause what’s happening is they’ve moved on and moved out to the suburbs, you know — Quincy, Braintree,” Neil said. “It’s changed.”

Owners of the pub said their main priority is getting their staff transferred to their other bars.
