DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials have placed the Bristol County House of Corrections on lockdown after an "incident" there.

Bristol County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jon Darling told WBZ's Tim Dunn that the jail is dealing with an "incident in one of the housing units."

Officials say the Bristol County Sheriff's Office is trying to make the jail more suicide-resistant. This meant the inmates in the jail had to move to different housing units. The Sheriff's Office said the inmates didn't want to move this morning, and that sparked the current incident.

Officers in tactical gear were seen outside one of the jail buildings.

A media briefing is expected sometime today.
