CANTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A career switch is paying off for one Canton-based entrepreneur who opened up a traveling cosmetology business after quitting her desk job.
25-year-old Jiyra Martinez of Brockton told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe that she left her nine-to-five job just before the pandemic to create her business, Blessed By Ji, which offers eyebrow tinting, lash extensions, teeth whitening, and facials— and it's taking off. Martinez says she works out of a studio in Canton, but that she also travels around the country for her clients.
"I was just in Miami, I had two to three clients out there. Then I flew back home to my clients here and now I'm going to Atlanta for the Fourth of July. As soon as I got this place it's kind of like this weird, secret door opened and there was just a line of people that wanted to book me," Martinez said.

Martinez says she is glad she made the jump over to the cosmetology industry, as it prompted her to come out of her shell.
