NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New Bedford elementary school is closed again today, for the third time in the last week. District officials say a faulty boiler is to blame.

Jireh Swift Elementary School in Lund's Corner was also closed last Tuesday and Wednesday in the leadup to Thanksgiving.

The Swift School was first built in 1909 and named after a local prominent merchant, according to the district.

The school is home to just over 200 kids in Pre-K to fifth grade, about 21% of whom are English language learners. WBZ NewsRadio has reached out to the district for comment on when the issue will be fixed.
