BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After a longer-than-anticipated layoff, the Boston Bruins return to action Wednesday night.

The Bruins will start their historic 100th season at the TD Garden against the Chicago Blackhawks. Both teams were part of the “Original Six,” the first six teams in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Last season the Bruins set the all-time record for the most wins in the regular season with 65 victories. Despite the success in the regular season, they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Florida Panthers.

WBZ’s Chris Fama asked Bruins fans what their expectations are for the team, after last year’s early exit.

“Well, the playoffs,” said one fan getting straight to the point.

“I think they can make the playoffs, but it’s going to take time to gel,” said another fan.

“I think they have a good chance to go pretty far,” said a long-time Bruins fan.

Puck-drop is set for 7:30 P.M. and will be broadcast on TNT.
