BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Bruins have unveiled a special logo that will be featured on their uniforms throughout the upcoming 2023-24 season, the team's 100th.
The Bruins announced Tuesday that the Centennial crest will be a new version of the "Spoked B," which the team has used in various designs for 75 years. It will temporarily replace the modern "Spoked B" that debuted in 2007.
The Centennial logo features black, vintage spokes that harken back to as far as the 1950s and were made famous by Bruins legends like Bobby Orr, Ray Borque, and Cam Neely. The serif "B" used since 2007 carries over from the current logo to the Centennial version as a way to commemorate modern Bruins stars such as Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron, although the color has been changed from black to yellow.
Along with the new logo, the Bruins revealed their schedule for the milestone 100th season.
The Centennial festivities will begin with a special pregame ceremony at the season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 11 at TD Garden. Additionally, there will be five "Era Nights" taking place throughout the 2023-24 season that will celebrate various players and teams from iconic eras in Bruins history:
- Oct. 28 vs. Detroit Red Wings - "The Early Years" (1924-1959)
- Nov. 18 vs. Montreal Canadiens - "Big Bad Bruins" (1960-1976)
- Dec. 16 vs. New York Rangers - "Lunch Pail A.C." (1977-1985)
- Jan. 20 vs. Montreal Canadiens - "New Blood, New Beginnings" (1986-2000)
- Mar. 7 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs - "Return of a Champion" (2001-present)
Each Era Night will include a pregame ceremony, guest appearances, special promotions and more.
