Burlington Police Arrest Suspect In Connection With Attempted Kidnapping

BURLINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A male suspect has been arrested in connection with Sunday evening's attempted kidnapping of a woman, Burlington Police announced Tuesday.

The suspect has been identified as Tyler Healey, 23. He was arrested in Winthrop and brought into the Burlington Police Department at around 6:05 p.m.

Police responded to a 911 call at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday about a person seen attempting to drag away a woman on foot near Middlesex Turnpike and Great Meadow Road. The caller was a driver who police said witnessed the attempted kidnapping and startled the suspect, causing them to flee on foot.

The driver pulled over and stayed with the woman until police arrived on the scene. Surveillance footage from a nearby building captured the incident on camera.

Police said Healey has ties to Burlington, but recently lived in Waltham and Newton.

Healey is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Woburn District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Rape, Attempt to Commit a Crime (Kidnapping), Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 or Over.
