BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Wakey-wakey, eggs and bakey is taking on a new meaning thanks to a hotel chain overseas.
Participating Holiday Inn Express locations are experimenting with new ways to wake up their customers. The chain is adding the Holiday Inn Express Breakfast Alarm Clock to rooms allowing guests to choose what smell they would like to wake up to.
"I wouldn't mind coffee waking me up, but I don't know if I would wake up to it. Also, that's the other thing because noise is very alarming. But smell in my trigger like a dream or something, but I don't think it will wake you up," one local said.
Now customers will be able to choose between the smell of coffee beans roasting, sizzling bacon or a blueberry muffin. But some Bay Staters think pleasant aromas might not do the job.

"Probably burning plastic. I think that's a good one. Nobody likes that. Or burnt hair," another local said.
The diffuser-style scent-based alarm clocks are the first clocks of its kind created and designed by a hotel with the mission to help guest wake up easier. While pleasant scents are only on the menu, a few locals think they should diversify the options.
"The scent of garbage, like, uh, or spoiled milk," one resident said.
