CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A video game tournament was held in Cambridge on Wednesday, November 13th.

The game that was being played for the competition was Venture Valley, a simulation game designed to help people learn how business works.

Nick Night, the executive producer for the game, said that the game was specifically designed to give players a taste of what it's like to be an entrepreneur.

"It's not like monopoly or something where it's sort of a business game," said Nick, "This is actually a game where you go and you build a business you compete against other similar businesses for certain goals and things, so you actually have to think about marketing and research and development."

The actual competition involved 6 players at a time going head-to-head to see whose business could run the best in a ten-minute time limit.

The winner of the day's competition received ten thousand dollars, with the same amount being awarded for the next day of the competition on Thursday.

After Thursday's main competition, a finale event will be held directly afterwards consisting of the top 100 contestants and another ten thousand dollar prize.

Boston University student Travis was one of the many budding business minds to join the competition.

"Being an entrepreneur you got to be scrappy, take anything you can get so it seemed like a great opportunity," said Travis.
