BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —While many people will spend their Halloween trick-or-treating, one woman on the Cape will be celebrating quite the milestone.
Buzzards Bay native Madeline Jackson will be celebrating her 109th birthday on Halloween. She got a special honor last Saturday at a thriller flash mob event, where the group of people at the event sang her an early Happy Birthday.
WBZ's Suzanne Sausville spoke with Jackson and asked her how she feels, considering she's one of the oldest living people in Massachusetts.
"Old," Jackson replied.
Jackson was there with four generations of her family ahead of her 109th birthday. Her granddaughter, Alison DeCosta, was there and said she's in awe of her grandmother.

"I think she's amazing honestly," she said. "I mean look at her she doesn't look a day over 70!"
But what's Jackson's secret to living for well over a century? She said it's making sure to drink a lot of water. However, her granddaughter isn't so sure about that.
"She doesn't usually drink a lot of water," DeCosta said with a laugh. "She prefers coffee, tea, or milk."
