CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Shane Smith and The Saints came to Cambridge for a show at The Cantab Lounge.

Owner Tim Dibble made a vow to his wife, Maureen, to bring the band to The Cantab Lounge after she had to leave a Shane Smith show early in Wyoming due to a weather delay.

"It created a rift in our marriage that she had missed this incredible concert, so we somehow were lucky enough to convince them two months later to come back and play The Cantab," Tim said.

Shane Smith is used to playing at stadiums, so the small Cambridge venue reminded him of his early days performing.

"For sure, you're in the thick of it with everybody like the early-early days and those shows I feel like are the most memorable in my opinion," Smith said.

Smith spoke about the band's struggle in 2019 when their first tour bus caught fire and burned their equipment.

"We had to hit a reset button and make a decision if we were gonna keep doing it. Our fanbase poured out a ton of love for us and got us back on our feet, every month since then has just felt positive like an upward turn," Smith said.

He also left some advice for other indie-songwriters going through their journey.

"If you really believe in it, you feel like you've got something to say, you've got some music to put out there and it's something you believe in, don't let anybody convince you otherwise," Smith said.
