CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was a "Total Eclipse of the Park" in Cambridge on Monday.
More than a thousand people packed Kingsley Park for a solar eclipse watch party with free viewing glasses, popcorn, astronomy experiments and displays, and live music from local folk band Trail Mix.

Ranger Tim Puopolo organized the event and explained why he chose the park as the locale.
"The property itself is almost shaped like an amphitheater with stadium seating towards the afternoon sun," Puopolo told WBZ NewsRadio.
And then came the moment everyone was waiting for: the eclipse reached its peak over Cambridge at 3:30 p.m. with 93% coverage of the sun.
"It’s amazing!" one woman exclaimed. "And it moved, I didn’t have any idea there was going to be this movement. All of a sudden it just went POOM! High up. Incredible."
When asked why she decided to attend the watch party, Ann from Cambridge laughed, "Because it’s obviously the last time I will ever get to see an eclipse since I’m 91."
