CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It turns out the best city to live in America is right in our backyard.
Cambridge ranked No. 1 on Niche's 2023 list of best cities to live in America and is one of 20 cities on the list to earn an A+ rating. The city earned an A+ rating in nightlife, commute, outdoor activities, health and fitness, and family living, along with an A rating in public schools and diversity. WBZ's James Rojas spoke with some residents that agree with the list.
"What Cambridge has done for making it easy to get around, the restaurants, and the general buzz of the city, it's a fun place to be," one resident said.
While plenty did agree with the list, they also saw some downsides to living in Cambridge.
"It's a good city," one resident said. "Housing might be a little expensive for people trying to raise a family and stuff like that but I guess you do what you can do."

Cost of living and housing were two of the spots where Cambridge ranked low, getting a C ranking in both categories. Cambridge also scored a C+ rating for crime and safety, but housing seems to be the main issue for residents.
"Cost of housing is definitely an issue," one resident said. "I've seen it go up a huge amount in [a short amount] of time."
No other New England cities placed in the top 25 on the list. Boston ranked 31st overall with an A ranking.
